Some people say that January sucks. Lucky for me it’s my birthday month so I have something to look forward to. But if it weren’t for that, I would have to agree with everyone else. The flame of the holidays has died, the weather is frigid, everyone’s budget is tight from Christmas, all the spring fashion catalogs arrive revealing oodles of romantic floral dresses that can’t be worn til at least April... everyone is just flat out crabby.
But I am going to give you at least 10 reasons to be excited about January...
-The release of the movie Country Strong tomorrow... Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw and Leighton Meester. Must I need say anymore? Watch the trailer here
-Those winter boots you’ve been eyeing all season have finally gone on sale! Ever checked out ASOS.com? They are having some killer deals on boots and other winter apparel. I love their website!
-January 8th is Bubble Bath Day!!!! Run to your nearest drugstore, grab a giant bottle of Mr. Bubbles, fill up your tub, light some candles and relax!
-The 8th is also, “Fruitcake Toss Day,” “National English Toffee Day” and “National Learn to Ski Day.” So, after you learn to ski, toss around a few fruit cakes, take a bubble bath and eat some english toffee before you go to bed.
-January 15th is the Miss America Pageant
-The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Held on January 16th.
-A long weekend for the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday the 17th!
-The 24th is, "Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day" and "National Compliment Day!" I expect you to jump around on a few sheets of giant bubble wrap and enjoy that (usually annoying) popping sound. And pay every person you meet up with on this day a compliment.
-January 31st is, "Inspire your Heart with Art Day!" Maybe draw or paint a picture. Unless you are an avid artist you probably haven’t painted a picture since grade school. (See one of my favorite local artists, Kandyce Groesbeck’s work here and here)
-I made up my own day... “Be so happy that you are not Lady Gaga or Snooki day!
See, January isn’t so bad after all!
