Ski away your winter blues {Aspen, Park City, Jackson Hole}

Many people this time of year begin to develop a case of the winter blues.  They start dreaming about warm weather and basking in the sun.  I hate to tell you, but it’s only January.  Spring is still a good 8 weeks away.  Since winter isn’t going anywhere and most of us aren’t traveling to a tropical climate tomorrow,  I am presenting you with 3 fabulous winter getaways.  So, strap on those ski boots, throw on your warmest winter coat and let’s enjoy the rest of this chilly weather.

*Keep in mind that many hotels lower their rates as the season goes on. So if you book a trip now but don’t go until March, you'll at have something to look forward to.

ASPEN, COLORADO
The best thing about aspen is that it's accommodating to everyone.  Whether you’re going for a romantic weekend getaway or going with the entire family everyone is bound to have a good time.
Stay at the Aspen Mountain Lodge with rates starting at $180 per night.
Great location within walking distance to the heart of
main street for fabulous dining and shopping.

THINGS TO DO:
You have the option to ski at one or more of four world-class resorts. They also offer cross-country skiing , ice skating and a beautiful gondola ride which some say is quintessential to the Aspen experience.
Whether you're planning to spend some cash or stay on a budget be sure to visit the shops on main street .  If you want to come home with a new wardrobe, bring some spending money because the shops are quite high-end and pricy.  We’re talking, Rodeo drive in the mountains.  But don't let that steer you away, there’s plenty more to see like, beautiful antique shops, art galleries, candy stores, bookstores and more.

WHERE TO EAT:
Matsuhisa for japanese seafood and sushi. (Make sure to order one of the Nobu Taco's for an appetizer.)
Campo de Fiori for a fine italian experience
Ajax Tavern is known for "The most well-executed burger in Aspen" they have won other awards such as "Best place to people watch in Aspen," "Best outdoor dining in Aspen" and "Voted Best Après Ski in Aspen."
Main Street Bakery for a morning pastry and coffee
Johnny Mcguires Deli serves a slew of sandwiches and is perfect for a mid-day meal

PARK CITY, UTAH
Stay at Marriott’s Mountainside Resort.  With rates starting as low as $99 per night it comes with a free shuttle to the main street shops and restaurants nearby and a rather appealing pool and hot tub.

THINGS TO DO:
Come in the month of January and enjoy a Sundance Film
Ride the Alpine Coaster: This ride is open year-round and gets you going at speeds of up to 30 mph.
Visit the Utah Olympic Park.  Maybe be daring and try out a four person bobsled ride!

WHERE TO EAT:
Best Pizza in town: Davanzas
Best sushi in town: Flying Sumo
Visit High West Distillery and Saloon.  After a delectable meal, stay for a fun night of drinks, dancing and live music.
For something quick and easy, grab mexican food at El Chubasco. I recommend their tacos and be sure to not skip the fresh salsa bar.

JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING
Stay at the Bentwood Inn .
This bed and breakfast will make you never want to leave.  It’s a few minutes drive to town but well worth it.  They have low rates, great hospitality and exquisite food.  Be sure to wake up in time for the Bentwood Breakfast.  You will not be sorry.  After a long day of skiing; a cheese and wine appetizer will await you, followed by a tasty homestyle meal.

WHAT TO DO:
In addition to skiing in Jackson Hole, they offer a variety of activities to keep you busy.  Anywhere from heli-skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.  Click here for more info and activities

WHERE TO EAT:
You’ll want to stop by the famous Cadillac Grille and if you’re not up for the wait, walk next door for a taste of Billy’s Giant Hamburgers!
Visit The Bunnery for a hearty and delicious breakfast.

WHAT TO BRING ON YOUR SKI TRIP:
The key here is to keep warm.  Pack your warmest boots especially ones that will keep your toes dry (ideas here,) a few pairs of jeans and leggings, comfy and cozy sweaters, several warm scarves, chunky knit socks, a pair of gloves and maybe one dressy outfit incase you visit a fancy restaurant.

Here are few examples of how to keep warm yet fashionable:
